Makar Sankranti is a holy festival of India which is celebrated on the occasion of transition in weather when colder weather move out and warmer weather begins. It is also a celebration of harvest thereby paying gratitude to God Sun for giving us food, light . It is a time when Sun starts it transition towards north thereby beginning of warmer days .
Makar sankranti is majorly celebrated in our region by flying kites. Flying kites on Makar sankranti signifies paying gratitude to the Sun God for giving us warmth, food and water after the cold weather comes to an end.

Makar sankranti signifies the connection of harvest and nature's bounty with transition in weather as sun moved towards northwards. The shift in the sun direction symbolizes new growth of flowers and leaves. It is an occasion to show gratitude towards Cattle and fauna that feed us and plays major contribution in human life.
