Summer Splash in my garden

We are at the end of may when the summer heat is at it's zenith ..the Days are long with hot winds (Loo in local language) which blows at the afternoon time having drying effect on the vegetation leading to browning and sometimes dying too..
But still there are some Heat and Drought tolerant annuals and perennials that grows in the summer and brings Summer Splash of Colors to the Garden...

S is for Summer for Abc wednesday
Dahlberg Daisy are native to south Texas and northern mexico..thats why they love hot,dry conditions and don't much enjoy extended high humidity or overly wet soils..

Dahlberg Daisies

I planted it in the spring since then only it has profusely bloomed forming a shrub appearance ...

Portulacas add a color to the dry garden in Summer they come in so many colors adding a splash to the Sunny Summer days ....

The above are the double flowering variety ....I have also planted the single flowering which are in there growing stage ....the best part of portulacas are that they are perennials and pop up each year as soon as    temperature increases and the summer is in....

Ageratums are warm weather plants ...that do well even if watered thrice a week ....These are the first time

bloomers in my garden ..they came as a surprise since I planted them in late winter since then they got stagnated and didn't showed any signs of growing ..I thought they won't survive  but as the weather turned warm the leaves were send and in between there was these clumps of flossy flowers on the long stalk .

Zinnias are the most lovable flowers in the Summer  due to there eye catchy blooms ..they are

drought tolerant ...they enjoy sunny areas and add a color splash to the dry garden of summer

Ruellias are the most adverse drought tolerants in the summer ....I have the pink variety of this plant ...

It grows in adverse conditions of  severe drought and being perennial forms a shruby appearance

It's not watered for the most part of the year still gives petunia alike blooms in the summer till the monsoon ...may be that's why they are  also popular as Desert petunia...

Vincas are the summer gardens favorite due to color it adds in the summer garden ...They like

to send  flowers only in warmer climates while gives profusion blooms in Monsoon season..

Gaillardias are the all year plants in my garden they blooms almost whole of the year .....In

summers also they strive the heat well giving there continuous blooms...and they are good drought tolerant too..

Amarnathus Plant is actually an edible although not consumed in our part of region.. these are the ornamental Amaranthus that gives red Foliage and Flower stalks..

Finally the Most awaited Summer Annual is Sunflower which has just started off  blooming ..

Where there are Annuals there are also Summer blooming Vines that add a splash to the summer

Rangoon Creeper also popular as Madhumalti (in Hindi)

And The Bougainvillea which tends to bloom most of the part of the year...

Although Summer makes it impossible to enjoy the Gardening pleasure  but still there is a reason to step out in Garden to please your eyes with a splash of Summer Flowers
