Garden Affair : Warm October

 The weather predictions about El Nino peaking the upcoming winter seeming  to be true as we are experiencing summer alike temperatures in October which is alarming for climate change.  

The Garden after seeing unprecedented monsoon season this year and cooler September the unusual rise in Temperature has derailed the Autumn season. 

Adeniums and Bougainvillea's are blooming in profusion  in the  October is an uncommon sight 

                                                                           

Autumn is considered to be season to prepare the Garden for  winter spring blossoms. Although The warm weather this October has delayed the preparation for spring Garden.

Garden Affair : Harvest in transient weather

 The weather transition is always a treat in my Garden as it's the time when last of seasonal  blooms are burgeoning. The post monsoon period sets favorable time for  the harvest which continues till the  Autumn season. 

This year seems special as Garden has bounty of harvest with satiating every taste from the palate. 

                                                            Green chilies for spice

Garden Affair : Tecoma blooms are back in Garden

                                                                         

The most common flowering shrub that grows easily in our climate is undoubtedly Tecoma plant that is quite drought tolerant and adorns with tubular structured blooms almost throughout the year.

The most hardy versatile Tecoma  variety that grows invariably in every weather condition. Tecomas are easy to grow plants that grew into large shrub eventually.

Garden Affair : Autumn delayed this year

 The unpredictable weather system has been a norm this year with  concurrent delay in  arrival of every season   , the monsoon season has been seeing late withdrawal making a delay in arrival of Autumn season now .

Garden affair : Canna Lily blooming season

 Monsoon season  is on the verge of withdrawal as we are about to welcome Autumn season in the next couple of weeks .  

Post monsoon is blessing for Garden as many flowering plants produce blooms after heavy downpour of monsoon .

Lilies are rejuvenated after monsoon season and gives out blooms till the months of Autumn. 

     Canna lily is one of the most rewarding lily plant that blooms in profusion  after monsoon season.                                     

These lily blooms with plethora of colors with blooms appearing from  large banana plant alike leaves.

Garden Affair: Plants attracting Tailor birds in my Garden

 Lately Tailor birds had been the most visiting bird in my Garden during this  monsoon season. It is a well known fact that most birds have mainly two breeding and nesting season in  a year one is spring and another is monsoon season in our region and  thereby  Tailor bird has its peak of nesting season from June to August. 

While they are known  for their majestic skills of sewing leaves to make their nest it is interesting to know they choose long elliptical shaped leaves to make nest as they can sew them to make a deep and secured nest .

In last few years I had seen they choose some of the trees in my Garden that have long leaves such as Mango trees, Ashoka tree in my Garden for nesting.

Tailor birds mostly feed upon small insects and larva and are attracted to flowering trees such as Hibiscus to prey upon bugs.

The monsoon phase of heavy downpour had been on a halt . Monsoon brings the temperature down and make weather moderate that rejuvenates Garden and brings bloom again to the Garden.

Garden Affair : Heart of Jesus plant

 

Heart of Jesus popularly known as Caladium plant is a beautiful plant that has large multicolored leaves that makes them most sought over houseplants for growing in shade areas.

Caladium plants are easy to grow plants with bulbs and require indirect sunlight and fertile soil for best results. 

                                                                           

   

Why are they known as ' Heart of Jesus ' 

Caladium leaves are mostly bicolor with deep red and pink in middle that resonates with bleeding heart or sacred heart . Caladium plants are also called elephant ears due to their striking resemblance with them .

Garden Affair : Independence Day

 Today is our 80th Independence Day , true independence is freedom to speech which has been a topic of discussion   in our country after younger generation marched a protest against the Government recently . Independence has its own definition for everyone subjectively. 

Monsoon is active in my region the concurrent rains had turned the  garden into green carpet.

Garden Affair : Sunflowers from my Summer Garden this year

 Summer season is always dreadful for the Garden as we have scorching heat and concurrent heat waves make it unbearable to do gardening with ease. Although silver lining to summer weather is we can grow Sunflowers in summer season. 

This summer  my Garden was bestowed with  two varieties of Sunflower that brought radiance in otherwise drab garden .

Sunflower can be grown in full sunny conditions as they adapt hot summer climate very well , they can be easily grown through seeds in well drained fertile soil and can thrive in semi drought         conditions .

 Monsoon brings relief in Garden as heatwaves come to an end and weather becomes pleasant in the Garden subsequently. Perennial  plants show up with blooms after downpour. This monsoon season the miniature blooms are the center of Attraction in my Garden.
