Garden Affair : How my plants are surviving Heat waves

The April turned out to be quite a paradox of a month this year when first fortnight of the April saw concurrent rains and temperature  turned out to be chilly and thereby expected summer season was derailed . The later fortnight came with rising temperature and summer became extreme within in span of a week with  heat waves observed for most part of Day resulting in concurrent high night  temperatures.

 

Protecting plants  wilting from Heat waves becomes the priority in summer season. 

In the time period of last decade I have realized  the following hacks that actually helps in protecting plant from harsh heat waves and sunlight. 

Mulching the top layer of soil with dried leaves . It helps in retaining moisture in to the roots of plant.

                                                      

Installing a water sprinkling system in the Garden. A water sprinkler equipment helps in cooling down the temperature of Garden and protecting it from heat waves . 

                                                          

                                                                    

Installing   Green net protects plant from harsh heat waves and provide shade on plants to protect leaves from burning from heat and sunlight. This is widely popular method is  used in summer to protect plants from direct exposure of Sunlight. 

                                                        

The basic take away from all these hacks is that plants and Garden can be protected from detrimental effects of Heat waves when we bring down the temperature of Garden.

Garden Affair : Before the spring ends

 The unusual weather system this year has lead to extended spring season. The summer has started off lately after the delay caused by the  first half of April which saw unusual rain activities, the only silver lining was spring blooms showed their presence in the Garden even till the half past of April.

Summer season has arrived

 The first fortnight of April ended with a relatively cooler atmosphere contrary  to what we expect every year by the start of summer. The silver lining being enjoying spring blooms till the April. 

                                              Spring and summer blooms are in symphony   

I didn't remember when  was the last time I saw Antirrhinums blooming till April month in my garden . 

                                                                                 

Summer season brings back the splash of colors of Adenium blooms that brings back the vibrant energy in my Garden. 

                                                                 

Summer blooms are complimenting with spring blooms this April 

Tailor bird have become common sighting in my Garden in these days. 

Amaryllis Blooming season is back

 

             April has started with unusual  weather as  when we expected Summer heat wave to took over the  city, the concurrent weather disturbances brought down the temperature and summer season  delayed  simultaneously.                                                   

The brighter side to this year unusual weather is we can enjoy spring blooms till the mid of April too.

Amaryllis bulbs are most easy to grow bulbous plants as they are hardy in Nature and can strive  any kind of soil still prefer warm climates to flourish .

Garden Affair : Noida Flower show

 I was recently travelling to Delhi when I got to know about this  Garden Show ongoing in  Noida . I was fortunate to be able to  visit   the flower show . 

                                                                        

The show' Vasant utsav 2026' was organized as  a part of spring  season celebration. It was organized on a large premises exhibiting  stunning  replicas of historic places and figurines made with flowers and wood.

 The center of attraction of show was Giant Temple of kedarnath made from flowers and wood . Kedarnath Temple is a holy Hindu pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Uttarakhand at a height of 3584 meters above sea level. 

                    A Giant Kedarnath Temple sculpture was on 3d display which was  adorned with flowers     

                               I was stunned with the intricate detailing of the temple carved out with  flowers.

   The show displayed some of the huge breathtaking flower towers stationed in premises  which made the whole experience  of fair more commendable.                           

This art work installation gave the calmness and gravitas to the whole chaos in  the surrounding of premises  in the show                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

I was overwhelmed with the display of plethora spring flowers in the show 

                                                                        

 There is another kind of attraction of Dinner plate  Dahlias but this hot pink Cactus Dahlia really stole the show                              

The symmetrical presentation of possibly every variety of spring flower was overwhelming experience 

                                                            

The show was not only about display of flowers and replicas but it was fulfilling every Gardener's fascination and making plant shopping experience  memorable . 

The presentation  of seeds , bulbs , houseplants was enticing for every Gardening enthusiast. 

                                                           

I bid adieu from show and took away some flowering bulbs and lot of cherish able memories of unique Flower show.
