Garden Affair : spider plant

     Spider plant aka chlorophytum  is one of the popular houseplant grown in almost every climatic region due to its hardy  nature and as  it is a  low maintenance plant. 

                                                    


Growing and care of Spider plant                                                                                                         

Spider plant is a low maintenance plant that can be grown in indoors easily. It has shallow roots which leads to growing plans in small containers which is advantageous to grow plant in a small spaces in our home. It doesn't require much care but protecting it from direct sunlight and in a moist environment helps in longevity of plant.

Spider plant is a great air purifier for home as it helps in consuming carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen for exchange in the home environment thereby cleaning and purifying home by removing chemicals present in the air.                                                                                                                   



Spider plant propagation and blooming period 





Spider plant can be easily grown from propagation from its offshoots. Spider plant grows well from the offshoots obtained from its parent plant that can be used to make a complete new plant.

  3. Dear Arun, yes we also have this plant in several flower pots at home. I think I have also seen them in flower beds in gardens in India, is that correct or possible?
