Garden Affair : Spring Flower Snapdragon

Spring time in my garden .  It is the time for discussing about new  spring flower for this week  Snapdragons. Snapdragons are one of those flowers that are nostalgic for me as a kid I used to love these Dog Flowers( snapdragons)  and played around with the  Flower by squeezing it to open like a Jaw of the dog :D . I still love this flower and always remember to plant a few of them for the spring every year.

          Growing Snapdragon and care

Snapdragons are moderate to easy for growing them from seeds ,They prefer sunny location and fertilizer rich soil  .   There are multiple colors of hybridized variety of  snapdragons  grown throughout the world.

The bunch of flowers appear on a long stalk which makes them attractive to the eyes.

It is the time for link up party Garden Affair where you can share anything pertaining to Gardening, Nature and Birds . 3. I think that snapdragons are very decorative and I also have a few in the garden. In Austria we call them "Froschgoscherl" (a colloquial term means something like frog mouth) and in standard German it is "Löwenmäulchen" (= lion's mouth). Many interesting names for a single flower: -DDD
    All the best from Austria,

  4. So hübsche Löwenmäulchen in zarten Farben und im Sonnenschein.
Bei uns dauert es noch einige Zeit, bis sie wieder blühen.

  7. Hi! Snapdragons are one of my favourites!!
And of course, I played with them!

In german they have also a cute name: Löwenmäulchen - little lion's mouth (??)

Last year I had a huge snapdragon in my garden - almost 90cm wide. Yeah!

    Best wishes Anja

  8. Now I am going to miss these snapdragons a lot more. I have grown them before. Squeeze the flower gently and it opens like a 'mouth' LOL

  9. The subject of the photo is not a flower, but a cat, but you can also see a small part of the garden outside and the garden inside my house. ☺

    Have a fine day!

  11. I love snapdragons but they are prone to develop rust here. However, this year, they are do well (so far at least), probably because we have been so dry.

  13. HI - I looked 3 different garden centers here for snapdragons - but no one has any yet! I do have a few that overwintered - looking rather raggedly - but I gave them a trim back and hope they will be blooming again by April.
