Garden Affair : Rabbit Ears

 Monsoon brings transition in  garden after long summer period when garden lose its glory, the arrival of blooms on annuals and perennials after rains bring back the color in garden. 

Rabbit ear plant also known as Ruttya fruticosa is a joy to watch blooming after monsoon rains. 


                                                         


It is a perennial plant that grows in a semi hardy plant and blooms from  monsoon to Autumn season. The plant requires little care , pruning in periods can help in obtaining more blooms from the plan in the blooming season.                                                                                             


Why it is called Rabbit ears plant                                                                                                            
                                                                                           
                  The blooms are forming into two tubular structure that resemble Rabbit with a head and two ears. These flowers are favorite among Hummingbirds and bees as they are attracting them due to their nectar.
