Monsoon Effect

Monsoon Downpour has taken a halt the  weather has become moderate and pleasant. The monsoon rains and fall in temperature helps in resurgence of blooms in garden.

I had planted these cypress vines at the end of Summer season and after consistent  downpour of monsoon the vine has covered entire flower bed and with a monsoon break the blooms showed up in beautiful scarlet color.

Although  Vinca Plant is all year bloomer in my Garden its colors somehow pops more after the monsoon downpour.

Rain brings the Rain lilies back  into profusion of blooms.

I await for Tecoma blooms after long summer months

Frangipani is one such perennial that has adapted our climate very well

I saw this beauty first in the morning as I was heading towards my morning walk it was close enough to give me a shot after trying few times with mobile camera I was able to capture it in a still position

Garden Affair : Asiatic Lily blooming

There is a weather prediction for long rain and hail storm spell for the upcoming week. While the winter period had been uncertain for this season the cold waves and upcoming winter Rains will definitely  aggravate winter for this season.

While the winter season do make the garden lull the  blooms of Asiatic lily are adding some colors to the garden

Crinum Lily blooming time

I have grown many varieties of lilies in my garden. Lily blooms are one of the most eye catchy blooms among all the flowering plants  grown from bulbs. Crinum lily is one of the most attractive variety of Lily family. There striking color and humongous blooms instantly grabs the attention .

Growth and Care

Crinum Lilies grow well in any state of weather and some varieties even blooms twice a year . They require fertilization once in a while and providing organic fertilizer just before blooming period will help in boosting blooms.

Countdown to Winter

The days are getting colder with every passing day as temperature at day time  has dropped to mid of 70s Fahrenheit which is quite cold for this time of year in our region. The reason could be due to unexpected hailstorm in my city  that happened in last week and fresh snowfall going on  in the hilly areas. While my winter garden preparation is going with full swing here are some blooms and developments that were observed after a walk in to the garden.

Spider lilies are in full bloom with a heady scent after their leaves were thinned and pruned after attack of worms.

It was a surprise to spot Rain Lily blooming at this time of year

The last show of Hibiscus blooms until freezing winter sets in the garden

Flower Bulbs

It is the time for winter season to set in the upcoming days. It will be seen within few days that cold weather will persist for few months until spring breaks bringing riot of colors with blossoms and blooms. It is the perfect time to sow winter Flower bulbs for spring blooms.

It is advisable in our region to sow Flower bulbs for winter season  in October and November  for bloom in spring in the upcoming year.

These are some of my Favorite Flower bulbs for winter season.

Ranunculus

Ranunculus are one of the most rewarding blooms that can be easily grown through bulbs and seedlings .These claw shaped bulbs should be sown in disinfectant water which can be prepared by mixing any fungicide powder in the water .

                                           Ranunculus bulb soaked in water

                                                      Ranunculus blooms

Lilium Bulbs

Liliums are one of the most easy to grow Flower bulb and they do not require much care and reward with huge blooms within a short period of time after sowing bulbs.

Lilium Bulbs

Anemone Blooms

Anemone are one of the most attractive  flower bulbs which can be grown for spring blooms. They can be grown easily with only concern about watering up to a certain level.

There are many other Flower bulbs for winter - spring sowing like Tulips,Gladiolus,Freesias,Orinthagalum,Sparaxis,Ixia,Mountbrettia and many others.

Meanwhile a sunset to remember from a vacation

Growing Asiatic Lily in pot

Asiatic lilies are one of the most vibrant flowers present among all of the Lily varieties with rewarding marvelous blooms . Although it is grown as an annual in our region but there blooms are always worthy waiting among all other spring blooms. This year I did something different by planting Asiatic Lily bulbs of five distinct colors in a single pot .As I expected they didn't get to blooms at a single time but there blooms even at different times of  month were definitely worthy for wait.
