Garden Affair : Roses in the Garden

I have always been fascinated with Roses from the time when I was a kid , the colors of especially English Roses were those that grown  my pragma for gardening . I still remember when I was  a kid I anticipated the unfurling of Rose buds to see its color .

I still remember when this triplet of Roses bloomed my energy was bouncing of the walls.

Although English Roses are huge and have multiple colorful patterns , but they lack fragrance unlike knock out roses

Knock out Roses (Fragrant variety used in Fragrances )

I had huge collection of English Roses in the past but unfortunately lost some of them during the renovation of Garden.

Garden Affair : Roses are back

Monsoon season is on a verge to take bid adieu and while there is long await for winter from now , I am  glad Roses are back  in to blooms .

I suppose all great happiness is a little sad. Beauty means the scent of roses, and the death of roses.

Care of English Roses   and growing period

Roses grow well in every climatic conditions which is not hot and arid . Roses performs well when pruned periodically and fed fertilizer in a period of three to four months.

Garden Affair : Indian Fragrant Rose

Rose is one of   the widely omnipresent flower in the world.  It is being grown and consumed throughout the world.  Indian Fragrant  Rose popularly known as Desi Gulab is widely cultivated throughout India.

It is considered to be  one of the most fragrant rose available in world. Flowers are usually colored red or pink .   It blooms most part of the year  irrespective of season.

Indian rose can be easily grown through cutting. It is easier to propagate through plant cuttings rather growing them from seeds.

Indian fragrant rose is widely consumed for making garlands consumed for multiple events e.g. Marriage, Worship and plethora of events.  It is intereseting to know that roses are edible and their  petals are used as an ingredient for sweets.

Garden Affair : Edible Flowers

Flowers are integral part of garden ,we can't imagine a Garden without the attractive blooms that make it lively and pleasing to eyes since without Flowers Garden would become dull and colorless. While it is also true that Flowers are a source of food for many insects , birds , animals and even Humans.

Here are some of the Flowers that I have personally used in one of the food recipes

                                                Marigold

Marigold is one of the most popular flowers in the world .It has many medicinal properties and due to pungent taste used in various cuisines around the world .

Roses

Roses are lovely Flowers and have been popularly used in making 'GULKAND' a sweet sauce derived from mixing fresh rose petals and sugar in our region.

Pansy and Violas

Pansies are one of the most unique flowers in appearance and not many people know that they are edible and is being used in many cuisines around the world mainly for adding flavor in the desserts.

Nasturtium

Nasturtium are one of the most prettiest climbing plant that grows in a vine like structure and forms a vine that reaches some foots . It is interesting to note that nasturtium flowers and leaves are popular edible plants and are used often in preparing salads.

Although there are many flowers that are considered as edible and have medicinal properties it should be noted that specific edible flowers should be consumed in small proportions only to save yourself from allergenic reactions from overconsumption.
