Garden Affair : Ruellia

 

Monsoon is in full swing , the downpour from last week has covered whole garden with sheet of greenery. The blooms are reviving with temperatures going down. 

Ruellia or Desert Petunia is beautiful plant that blooms profusely in monsoon for a long period that continues blooming till the end of Autumn. Ruellia blooms resemble Petunia flowers that bloom in variety of colors. 


                                                                                     


 Care and Propagation   

Beautiful an Delicate Ruellia plants   are drought tolerant ,  they can be easily grown   through  stem cuttings and dispersion of seeds. The flowers are delicate and blooms in profusion .

Autumn time

  

Autumn is slowly coming into progression after long monsoon phase has taken back seat this year. Although temperature for this season is on higher side which has lead to extended blooms of summer and monsoon season. 


                            Cypress vine is blooming after monsoon rains have passed .                                      



Costus igneus popularly known as Insulin plant is medicinal herb which is used for the treatment of  diabetic patient have blooms that are attractive and unique.   If you want know more about its health benefits in diabetes check my detailed post here Insulin plant benefits in diabetes

Autumn season brings in end to blooms of Vinca, Hibiscus, Gomphrena, Plumbago and many other annuals and perennials.

This is fifth time in this year when inflorescence on my  mango tree has bloomed. 





Ruellia blooms are blooming  in full swing after rains. 


Aquatic blooms are usual to bloom in October

This Greater white fronted  Goose came up to me to give a pose before joining its fellow Geese .

 Monsoon revives blossoms in my garden . Desert petunias or Ruellia is one of the most attractive looking flowering plant that resembles petunia, it is a drought tolerant plant that grows well in every weather .

It is an easy to grow plant that can be easily grown from seeds and also can be easily propagated through stem cutting. Garden Affair : Ruellia

 Monsoon has made the weather pleasant and all the plants are back with the blooms . Ruellia also known as Desert petunia is a hardy perennial that blooms throughout the year except in the colder months.

Ruellia is a hardy plant and can withstand high temperatures . It would grow and spread in  a large area through dispersion of seeds. It would be advisable to fertilize it  twice in a year is enough for its growth and blooms.It is also known as desert petunia owing to its blooms alike Petunias.

Monsoon is here

 Monsoon has finally hit the city after a long await which has helped to get relief from humid and hot climate . Monsoon brings transition in the weather which helps the Garden regain its greenery and beauty.

While there are many other blooms of  varieties of Jasmine  , plumeria  blooming from last many days this particular wild flower drew my attention when I was strolling in my garden. I don't know the name of this flower if anyone know please do comment.

Welcome to Autumn Garden

 Autumn season can be felt in our region completely. Although this year was not  that fortunate with respect to Rainfall still Autumn has arrived on time this year.

                                                                  


Morning Glory blooms are  a welcoming change this time of year

It was surprising to see Goat Foot  vine or Beach Morning glory blooming which I had grown from cutting this year  in the monsoon season.


                                                          








Ruellia Blooms are most rewarding ones in our hot climatic region

Jasmine varieties are seeing some last blooms in Autumn before winter sets in a month or so

                       It is interesting to know that coral Jasmine which has Hindu mythology significance blooms majorly for  a period of two months in the whole year that too only at night time.

kaleidoscope

Weather is most unpredictable topic to be assure about in the universe ,it never remains constant.It was only two months back we were roasted with hot summer heatwaves,not anymore since change is inevitable thereby situation has changed  ,dry state has been converted into wet and humid over the passage of two months with the onset of Monsoon.Thereby one should believe in the god and wait for him to rotate the   kaleidoscope of life to bring change for betterment.
