Garden affair : Adenium season is back

                                                                            

The fluctuating temperature after western disturbances during last week  in the late spring has surprisingly aided in the extension of blooming period  of spring annuals . 

The timing of garden is few and far between when both spring and  summer annuals and perennials  are blooming simultaneously is actually bolt from the blue for this time of year. 

While Adeniums choose early summer or late summer to show up in Garden this fluctuating temperature in Garden has lead to there bloom in the late spring. 

                                                                               

                                                                         

 

   While it is a silver lining for garden to experience spring and summer  blooms at the same time it actually speaks a lot about potential threat relating to climate change  lying in the future .

Garden Affair : World sparrow Day

World sparrow Day is observed on 20th march, the sudden vanishing of sparrows in our region is quite unfortunate. The days are bygone when we could spot sparrows easily in Gardens, parks , verandahs, on roofs and mostly everywhere nearby our environment.

                                                                    

I had already covered in detail the probable   reasons for disappearance of sparrows and what can we do to save sparrows from extinction in my earlier blog. Here I would like to throw some light upon  the organizations which are working dedicatedly   for the welfare of sparrows and  wildlife.                                                                                                                                                    

Nature Forever society                                                                                                                    

Nature forever society is prominent organization working for the protection and awareness of sparrows. They played key role in declaration of World Sparrow Day thereby connecting               organizations from  around the world for the welfare of sparrows.  Their project 'Save our sparrow' has been focused on installing nest boxes , providing natural habitat for the protection and welfare of birds.                                                                                                                                              

Aarambh organization                                                                                                    

Aarambh foundation is working from more than a decade for providing  the shelter to  sparrows. They have been consistent in promoting 'World sparrow day' and spread its importance to the world.                                        

Koodugal trust                                                                                                                                     

An organization working for the welfare of sparrows from more than a decade now , their main focus has been creating sparrow friendly natural habitats and they have built more than 10k nests for the  shelter of sparrows .                                                                                                                                  

Although there are many organizations and NGO's who are working on many levels for the protection and welfare of sparrows. We as a laymen  can make a small or big contribution in supporting the world for protection and welfare of sparrows by either  joining them as a volunteer  and  even showing support in the form of donations to organizations  , buying nests from them  and installing them in your nearby environments.

Garden Affair : Warm spring and absence of bees

 This year would be remembered as one of the warmest spring in the decades. The spring annuals are already withering with rising temperature which has also affected  the ecological balance as the adverse effect can be seen with the absence of butterflies and bees from spring garden. 

          These are the few glimpses from spring from past years when bees and butterflies were spotted hovering over the flowers.

                                                                    

                                                                        

We had reached almost at the end of spring season this year with rising temperatures and presence of bees and butterflies is almost negligible this spring. The possible reasons of vanishing of bees in spring is still  uncertain  to me but the warmer and shorter winter period that induced  warmer spring season     could be one of the reasons for their non survival till spring season.                                                                                                                 

The presence of bees and butterflies in spring is prominent as they are pollinators to ensure production of seeds, fruits and flowers vital to maintain ecological balance. Warm spring

 The soaring temperature in the mid spring season is alarming with fear of Global warming and unprecedented climate change now becoming a  reality.  

The raising temperature had affected my Garden as  well as early summer blooms are already blooming along with spring flowers. 

                        Petunias are blooming aside summer bloomers Vinca and Plumbago in spring is not we see every year.             

I have always felt growing Single flowered Dahlia is more rewarding than  Giant Dahlias 

                                                         

             The unusual rise in temperatures in spring has affected spring blooming annuals in  adverse manner 

                    Buttercup and other bulbous blooms are out of shape due to sharp rise in temperatures

Garden Affair : Blogoversary

 I was this  enthusiast Gardener who fall for plants in the early childhood days when I used to pick up Dog Flowers[Snapdragons ] growing in my Garden just  to play with them like with puppets . I am sure many of you had played with them in your childhood.

                                                                                                                         

It was almost 13 years ago when I started this blog to share my passion for plants with world, little did I knew that I would be able to connect with fellow Gardening Enthusiast from around the world on this journey. 

Garden Affair was born to share Garden happenings  , resolving queries related to growing plants, understanding and exploring new Gardening trends and techniques.
