Garden Affair : Crinum Lily Season

Monsoon season is the best season for the resurgence of blooms on Lily plants. While Rain lilies blooms are the messenger of arrival of Monsoon season as they often bloom with very  first downpour.The lilies that bloom in the mid of  monsoon season are serendipitously fulfilling for the Garden . 

Crinum Lilies or Crinum Asiaticum is one of the lilies that bestow there blooms in Monsoon season with flowers that resemble to Spider Lily . The Giant blooms and sweet Fragrance of these variety of lilies are mesmerizing enough to draw attention in Garden.

Growing method and Care  

                     Crinum 'Milk and wine '

Crinum lilies are bulbous plants like any other lily plants they can be grown easily by planting bulbs in well drained soil .

While they don't really need special attention still fertilizing before blooming season or preferably in spring helps in resurgence of more blooms in monsoon  season.

The more common variety of Crinum Asiaticum Spider Crinum lily is hardy plant compared to other varieties of Crium Lilies.

Garden Affair : How to easily propagate House plants in Monsoon

 

Monsoon season has begun in our region . Monsoon is the most suitable weather to grow plants with  the consistent downpour the temperature remains moderate. The consistent rainfall brings moisture in air that makes weather cool which is suitable for seed germination , propagation of plants , root establishment and thereby overall growth of plants. 

Houseplants are gaining popularity these days in urban environment as they can be grown in smaller spaces and they fulfill the desire to connect with Nature in absence of spaces in urban environment. 

                     Houseplants can be easily grown through stem cutting and can be easily propagated in Monsoon season through single technique that even an amateur gardener can propagate them without having green thumb  .  

Sansevieria are the most common House plants grown for their unique shapes and color  which resemble snake . They can be easily propagated in monsoon by planting leaf cutting in well drained soil or even in water. 

Pothos or popularly known as Money plant are easy to propagate through leaf or stem cutting . Their creeper like appearance makes them favorite among other house plants to adorn every corner of the      home.                                                                                                                                                          

Here in the below picture I have demonstrated   that how easily can you propagate money plant through soaking stem cutting in water until roots are formed.                                                                               

Dracaena plant is one of the graceful house plant known for their long shaped elliptical leaves that can easily grown in monsoon season through stem cutting. They can be propagated through soaking stem cuttings in water and even directly planting stem cutting in well drained soil mixture.                                                                                                          

                                                                        

Sygoniums are leggy house plants that adds bursts of colors in your room. They can be easily propagated through stem cuttings and roots form within a time span of two to three days. 

Rubber plant is one of the most popular houseplants that belong to family of Ficus family and plants belonging to this family are known for their stunning thick leaves. They can be easily grown through both leaf and stem cutting propagation.

Monsoon in my Garden

 It has been raining from a week and more , the monsoon has brought big relief from heat waves after harsh summer which we have seen this year. 

The downpour has brought back blooms in the Garden 

                                                         Portulacas are back 

                                                                   

Water Lily blooms with Rain

                                                      Bougainvillea's are prolifically blooming                                                                                    

                                                                       

                                                         Rain Lilies are most awaited in monsoon       

                                                                              

Adeniums have been blooming from  long now and will bloom till  the end of Autumn season. 

 I spotted Tailor bird in my Balcony  and was able to capture a close up shot of it .Tailor bird is  a common scene during monsoon season in my Garden . They are known for their nest making skill from leaves  .    I have  covered about their nest making skill in my blog earlier post.          

Garden Affair : Rain Lilies make a comeback

 Its Monsoon time , the plants have gala time in monsoon . Rain Lilies rejuvenate with first downpour. 

The grassy leaves are filled with colorful blooms throughout Monsoon season . 

Growing and Care of Rain Lilies 

Rain Lilies can be  easily grown through bulbs and they multiple quickly within a short span of time.
